Not enough young diaspora Tamils are fluent in their mothertongue. Many understand Tamil at home, but lack the confidence to speak, read or write it on a regular basis.
There is little to no mainstream support for Tamil language-learning, even in popular apps such as Duolingo. Tamil schools play a significant role for younger generations, but often need to be supplemented with significant additional training for true fluency to be achieved.
That’s why we’ll soon be inviting everyone to tackle these longstanding issues through our intense one-day competition. Participants will team up and use AI tools to rapidly build innovative prototypes for Tamil language-learning applications.
Promising concepts will be rewarded with resources and opportunities to spin them out into real-world apps. All experience levels would be welcome, regardless of coding ability or Tamil fluency.
